E’ stato sposato con Jillian
Dempsey Fink, famosa make-up artist della casa cosmetica Avon, da cui ha avuto
tre figli. Attualmente è impegnato nelle riprese del film “Il diario di
Bridget Jones 3 (Bridget Jones's baby) insieme a Renée Zellweger e Colin
Firth, come sostituto di Hugh Grant.
Dopo la morte della madre, ha
fondato “The Patrick Dempsey Center For Cancer Hope &
Healing”, un centro di cura per aiutare le persone malate di cancro.
E’ appassionato di corse
automobilistiche e ha fondato una scuderia insieme al calciatore italiano Alex
Del Piero, la “Dempsey Del Piero Proton” rinominata “Dempsey Proton Racing”.
